Students
Regalia & Commencement FAQ
Students may pick up their cap, gown, and tassel at the OTC Bookstore up until the day of commencement, or during the Grad Prep event. If someone else is picking up your regalia for you, make sure they know your student ID number, height, and weight. If you are unable to visit one of our locations, you may email [email protected] to have your regalia shipped to you.
Students can check in with their student services at any Ozarks Tech location to place an order for their cap, gown and tassel. The items will be shipped to that location for the student to pick up.
Student regalia (cap, gown and tassel) is provided at no additional cost to students.

Upon picking up your items, please remove gown from the package and place on a hanger to allow wrinkles and folds to fall out prior to graduation. Should you want to iron your gown, turn inside out and press with a cool iron.
Announcements can be purchased through the Ozarks Tech Printshop. Other graduation items/gifts can be purchased from the OTC Bookstore.
Commencement is a formal ceremony, and there are strict guidelines about how graduates may adorn their regalia.

All PTK items (cords, stoles and medallions) can be purchased at the OTC Bookstore when you pick up your regalia.
Faculty
The graduation committee has offered the following observations and recommendations for faculty and staff participating in the commencement ceremony. The tradition of these standards should be departed from as little as possible to preserve the symbolism (which dates back to the Middle Ages) and practicality.
Cords, Stoles, & Medallions are not traditionally worn by faculty/staff unless specified by the commencement committee.
Ph.D. and Doctoral Regalia Standards
- Black doctoral robe with black chevrons and black front panels.
- Black mortarboard with tassel color of their choice — OLD GOLD is standard tassel.
- Fabric to be lightweight, non-shiny black.
- Tams will be provided upon request.
- Doctoral Academic hood (lightweight) in the colors of the school where the Ph.D. / doctoral degree was earned.
Master’s Regalia Standards
- Black master’s robe.
- Black mortarboard with tassel color of their choice — BLACK is standard tassel.
- Fabric to be lightweight, non-shiny black.
- Master’s Academic hood (lightweight) in the colors of the school where they earned the master’s degree.
Bachelor’s Regalia Standards
- Black bachelor’s robe.
- Black mortarboard with tassel color of their choice — BLACK is standard tassel.
- Fabric to be lightweight, non-shiny black.
- Bachelor’s Academic hood (lightweight) — in colors of the school where they earned the bachelor’s degree

Bachelor’s Academic hood (lightweight) — lining color to represent OTC (Navy & White)- Velvet trim on the hood to be LIGHT BLUE (Education) color.
Associate Regalia Standards
- Black bachelor’s robe.
- Black mortarboard with tassel color of their choice — BLACK is standard tassel.
- Fabric to be lightweight, non-shiny black.
- Bachelor’s Academic hood (lightweight) — lining color to represent OTC (Navy & White)
- Velvet trim on the hood to be LIGHT BLUE (Education) color.
