Ozarks Tech welcomes students from many countries. You are an important part of campus life, and we want you to feel at home here.

When you study in the United States, you will need to plan for things like your visa, housing, money, and even clothing for a new climate. The International Programs Office (IPO) will guide you through these steps and help you adjust to life in Springfield.

How to Study at Ozarks Tech

Studying at Ozarks Tech begins with an application. All international students apply online and include supplemental documentation in their application.

Costs and Proof of Funds

If you are applying to be a full-time international student at Ozarks Tech, advance proof of funds of at least $22,000 for one year of education and living expenses is required. Health insurance is required for all F-1 and M-1 status international students.

English Proficiency Requirements

You must show English proficiency in one of these ways:

  • TOEFL score of 61 or higher
  • IELTS score of 5.5 or higher in each category
  • Manchester Exam score of 360 or higher
  • Completion of level B2 program from the English Language Institute of Missouri State University
  • Completion of at least 15 credit hours of U.S. college or university coursework with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
  • Proof you are from an exempt country

Life in Springfield

Springfield is a mid-sized city in the center of the United States. It is home to more than 170,000 people and several colleges and universities. The city has many restaurants, shops, and outdoor spaces, and it is known for being safe, welcoming, and affordable.

Springfield has four seasons, with hot summers, cold winters, and mild spring and fall weather. It is easy to get around by bus or car, and the city has a regional airport with flights to larger U.S. cities.

Housing

Ozarks Tech does not provide on-campus housing. However, Springfield has many apartments and rental options close to campus. 

Less Common Situations

If you are studying full time at another U.S. college, you may apply to take up to 6 credits per semester at Ozarks Tech.

If you are in the U.S. on a visa other than F-1 or M-1, you may still apply to take classes.
