Students may repeat courses in which a grade was earned to improve their grade point average (GPA).
Note: Some Health Sciences programs limit course repeats for admission. Check with the Health Sciences Division for details.
When a course is repeated, the most recent grade replaces the previous grade in the GPA—even if the new grade is lower. All attempts will appear on the transcript, but only the final attempt will be included in GPA calculations. Transfer credit may be used to repeat a course.
Repeating with a Different Course
Students have some additional options when it comes to repeating courses. Those options include:
Option 1: Request approval using the Repeat Course Authorization
Request approval to use a different course to replace the grade for a previously completed course.
After completing the form, forward it to the appropriate Department Chair for processing. If you have questions, contact the Registrar’s Office.
Option 2: Request approval directly
For courses you can take multiple times for credit, you can request approval to repeat that course beyond the maximum allowed attempts. Instead of the form above, please contact the Dean of your division directly for more information.
Repeat Coursework Policy
There are limitations on how many times Federal Student Aid will pay for repeated courses.
