Work study is a part-time job program that lets you earn money to help with expenses while you’re in school. Positions are available on Ozarks Tech campuses.
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides part-time jobs for currently enrolled students who demonstrate financial need based on FAFSA results. Federal funding is limited, and students must be approved for eligibility before applying for positions.
The current wage for Federal Work Study positions is $15.00 per hour, and students may work up to 19.5 hours each week.
How to Apply for Work Study
Step 1: Request Work Study Eligibility
Follow these steps to request Federal Work Study eligibility through Financial Aid:
- Complete the FAFSA for the academic year you wish to be considered.
- Submit a Work Study Assignment Request to determine your eligibility.
For questions about these steps, please contact your college navigator.
If you are eligible, the college will send your Eligibility Acknowledgement and Renewal form to your Ozarks Tech email. If you are not eligible, your email will explain why.
Students selected for verification from the FAFSA will need to complete a new assignment form request once verification is complete.
Step 2: Apply for Work Study Positions
Once you are approved for Federal Work Study, you can apply for available positions.

Step 3: Complete Hiring and Onboarding
If you are selected for a position, Human Resources will email you with instructions to complete your hiring and onboarding steps.
- Follow the directions provided in that email carefully.
- Do not begin working until you receive your official “OK to start” email from Human Resources.
Step 4: Start Working
After you receive your “OK to start” email, you may begin working in your approved position.
- Students may work up to 19.5 hours per week, depending on eligibility.
- You will be paid by direct deposit, so you must complete direct deposit setup during onboarding.
- Payday is typically on the 15th and last weekday of each month; if the 15th falls on a Saturday, the pay date will be Friday; if the 15th falls on a Sunday, the pay date will be Monday.
- Follow your supervisor’s instructions for scheduling and job responsibilities.
