Transferring Credits from Another College

Bring your completed coursework with you.

If you’ve earned college credits at another institution, you can apply them toward your Ozarks Tech degree. Learn how transfer credit is evaluated, how to send official transcripts, and what to expect once your transfer report is ready.

Understanding your Transfer Evaluation Report

After your official transcripts are processed, you’ll receive a Transfer Evaluation Report in myOTC.
This report shows how each course from your previous college applies to your Ozarks Tech program.

If you have questions about your report, contact your college navigator.
If you believe a course should count differently, you can request a Re-evaluation of Transfer Credit.

Transcript Evaluation Status

We evaluate transcripts in the order in which they are received. Once received, transcripts fall into one of two categories:

  • Simple Evaluations (faster): All courses on the transcript have been reviewed before and already have course equivalencies.
  • Full Evaluations (slower): Transcript includes new or unfamiliar courses that require additional review and new equivalency decisions.

Currently Evaluating:

  • Simple Evaluations – Transcripts received December 16, 2025
  • Full Evaluations – Transcripts received December 8, 2025

Please refer to your email confirmation for a transcript status update showing the date we received your transcript.

Once credit has been evaluated it may be viewed in myOTC on the Transfer Evaluation tab and in the unofficial transcript.  During the months of June – August each year, we do not evaluate transfer credit for non-degree seeking, visiting students.  Those transcripts will be evaluated as time allows after the fall semester has begun.

Special transfer situations

Use these resources if your credits come from a quarter system, an international college, or another unique situation. You’ll also find details about accreditation and how special cases are reviewed.

Most Ozarks Tech classes use semester credit hours. If you earned quarter hours elsewhere, credits are converted during evaluation.

  • Typical quarter vs. semester length: quarters are about 10 weeks; semesters are about 16 weeks.

  • Conversion used in evaluations:

    • 3 quarter credits ÷ 1.5 = 2 semester credits

    • 5 quarter credits ÷ 1.5 ≈ 3.3 semester credits
Questions about how a specific course converted? Ask your navigator after your transfer report is posted.

Ozarks Tech evaluates coursework from colleges and universities that are regionally accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

What gets evaluated

  • College-level courses numbered 100–500 with attempted or completed hours and a final grade
  • Courses taken while the institution held regional accreditation or candidacy status

What does not get evaluated

  • Repeated courses from the same institution
  • Courses with a grade of W

What to send

  • Official transcripts from every regionally accredited college you attended
  • If applicable, official AP and CLEP score reports
  • Submit all college transcripts before your second semester at Ozarks Tech.

If you disagree with a result

Level 1 Appeal

Get documentation from the department that taught the course at your previous college: course syllabus from the term taken and the matching catalog description.

Email materials with a short cover note listing your Ozarks Tech degree goal and the courses you want reviewed to [email protected].

You will be notified of the decision, typically within 2–3 weeks after complete materials are received.

Level 2 Appeal

If you still have concerns, contact the Student Ombudsman.

For CORE 42 MOTR courses, follow the state CORE 42 Transfer Guidelines process.

Coursework from non-regionally accredited institutions is reviewed case by case.

What to send

  • Official transcript

  • For each course you want evaluated:

    • Course syllabus from the term you took it

    • Matching catalog description

  • A short cover note listing your Ozarks Tech degree goal and the courses you want reviewed

Email materials to [email protected]. Your documentation is forwarded to the appropriate Department Head or Dean. You will be notified of the decision, typically within 2–3 weeks after complete materials are received.

If you still have concerns after the decision, contact the Student Ombudsman.

Ozarks Tech evaluates transfer credits (international transcripts) completed at an international institution on a course-by-course basis.

To evaluate international credits, we require students to provide supporting documentation in addition to the translated transcript. Students must have their foreign credits reviewed by an agency approved by one of the following two professional associations recognized by the US Dept. of Education:

Students can choose any organization on these organizations approved lists. Once collected, please forward all information to [email protected]. Ozarks Tech will then forward documentation to the appropriate Department Head or Dean for evaluation. After which, the college will notify the student of the results. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the evaluation process.

For Ozarks Tech to consider the coursework, students should translate documentation to English and include:

  • Cover letter or email listing the desired degree program and a list of courses being requested for evaluation
  • Content courses (tech/allied health), copy of the course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE agency along with a course syllabus or course description for the courses the student wishes to have evaluated
  • General education courses, copy of the course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE agency for the courses the student wishes to have evaluated
  • Copy of foreign transcript

Once evaluated, Ozarks Tech will notify the student of the results by the Transcript Evaluator.
