Reporting Crimes or Concerning Behavior
Your safety and well-being are important. If you witness or experience behavior that feels threatening, unsafe, or concerning, please report it right away. Reports help Safety & Security respond quickly, connect people to support and maintain a safe campus for everyone.
If you’re unsure about what you’ve seen or experienced, still report it. Safety & Security can help determine next steps.
How to Report
- Emergency? Call 911 right away.
- Non-emergency? Call OTC Safety & Security directly. Officers are on duty 24/7.
- In person: Visit the Safety & Security Office at your location or approach any patrolling officer.
- Online: Submit a Report of Concern through the OTC CARES system.
- When reporting, provide as much detail as you can:
Type of emergency or concern
- Exact location (building, room, or parking lot)
- Description of individuals involved
- Injuries or immediate dangers
- Your name and a call-back number
What to Report
- Threatening or violent behavior
- Weapons on campus
- Self-harm concerns
- Substance abuse concerns
- Disruptive or escalating behavior
- Expressions of distress
- Acts of discrimination or hate
- Property damage or safety hazards
- Sexual assault
- Domestic violence or abuse
What Happens After You Report
- A Safety & Security officer will respond promptly, prioritizing crimes in progress, accidents, and medical emergencies.
- Officers may meet with you to gather details and, if needed, involve local law enforcement.
- Criminal activity may be referred to city or county prosecutors.
- Student-related incidents may also be referred to Student Affairs for disciplinary action.
