The program is selective admission and will offer top applicants a position in the class. Applicants not selected for admission but still interested in joining the program need to reapply for a subsequent semester.
Step 1: Before You Apply
Make Sure You Can Meet the Requirements
- You must qualify for a minimum 3rd Class FAA Medical Certificate (1st Class is needed later for airline careers)

Gather Documents:
- FAA Medical Certificate (photo required)

- Government-issued photo ID and Birth Certificate with raised seal (or Passport) for TSA clearance
- Official high school and college transcripts
- FAFSA confirmation (for scholarship eligibility)
Optional Items That Can Strengthen Your Application
These are not required, but they can boost your application. Be sure to include them when you apply.
- Previous flight experience – Log any flight hours in your application to improve your score
- Completed courses – AVI 101, Math 130 or higher, and 100-level electives can help
Step 2: Apply to the Aviation Program
Submit the Ozarks Tech application
- Choose Aviation Flight Technology as your major
- Contact your admissions counselor to complete online orientation (new students only)
Apply to the Aviation Program
- Be sure your documents are ready when you start
- Complete the online Aviation Program Application
Confirm your file is complete before the deadline
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed
Application Deadlines
- Summer (June start) – Apply by March 31 | Decisions will be sent around May 1
- Fall (August start) – Apply by May 31 | Decisions will be sent around July 1
- Spring (January start) – Apply by October 31 | Decisions will be sent around December 1

Step 3: After You Apply
What Happens Next?
- You’ll get an email once selections are made
- Top applicants are offered seats in the program
- Not selected? You’re welcome to reapply for the next term
Student Pilot License
If you don’t already have a pilot certificate, you’ll apply for a student certificate with a Certified Flight Instructor at the flight center
TSA Airport Clearance
You’ll need to show ID and a raised-seal birth certificate or valid passport before flight training can begin. View required documents for TSA clearance
Disqualifying Medical Conditions

Application Window: January 1 – May 20
The Electrical Distribution Systems program is a selective admission program based on a points system. The top scoring students are accepted into the program first, with ties being broken by a committee’s review of the applications.
Please send your name, phone number and email address to [email protected] to receive more information, arrange an application tour and get help with the application process or complete the Ozarks Tech application to receive an application packet.
These applicants must complete and submit their DOT physical as soon as they turn 18 and before August 1.
Required Application Criteria
Please note that the following are requirements when applying to the EDS program.
- DOT physical or Class A CDL with no restrictions (other than age).
- A sports physical is required for anyone under 18 at the close of the application window.
- Anyone unable to successfully complete the DOT physical will not be able to earn their Class A CDL and will not be able to find employment in the Electrical Distribution field.
- Negative drug screen test.
- Driving record from the license bureau.
