Your yearly tuition statement for tax purposes.
Each January, Ozarks Tech provides students who are eligible with an IRS Form 1098-T. This form reports information about tuition payments, scholarships and grants.
You may use it when preparing your federal tax return to see if you qualify for education-related tax credits. For official guidance on claiming these credits, review IRS Publication 970, Form 8863, or visit the IRS website.

Paper Statements by Mail
If you opted in by the deadline to receive a paper copy, it will be postmarked no later than January 31. To ensure timely delivery, make sure your mailing address in myOTC is correct. Address changes can take up to one week to process, and the post office will not forward this document.
What the 1098-T Shows
- Box 1: Payments received – the IRS requires the college to show payments received for qualified tuition and related expenses during the calendar year. If you registered for a term starting in January–March but paid in the prior year, Box 7 will also be checked.
- Box 5: Scholarships or grants – shows any scholarships or grants you received. This amount may reduce the education credit or tuition/fee deduction you can claim.
- Box 8: Enrollment status – indicates if you were at least half-time for one or more terms during the year.
