Take a class without committing to a full degree.
Visiting students take classes at Ozarks Tech while enrolled at another college or just for personal or professional growth. The process is simple, and you can apply at any time.
Step 1: Apply as a visiting student
You’ll use the same online application as all students. Choose “Visiting Student (Non-Degree Seeking)” when asked about your admission type.
It’s quick and free and you won’t need transcripts or placement tests to get started.
Step 2: Register for classes
Once your admission has been processed, you’ll receive an email with your myOTC login information. Use myOTC to search and register for classes.
Because visiting students don’t have assigned advisors, you’ll plan your own schedule.
If a class has a prerequisite, you’ll self-certify that you meet it. If you’re unsure, contact the course instructor before enrolling.
3. Confirm payment right away
To keep your seat in class, set up a payment plan or pay your tuition in full the same day you register. You can make payments through myOTC under Student Accounts.
Be sure to review refund and payment deadlines on the Academic Calendar.
4. Access Canvas and your student email
You’ll use Canvas for course materials and your Ozarks Tech email for all official communication. Check both regularly for updates from your instructors.
5. Get your Ozarks Tech SmartCard
Your SmartCard serves as your student ID and refund card. SmartCards are required for all students.
Common questions about visiting student registration
Yes. You’re responsible for self-certifying that you meet all prerequisites before registering. If you’re unsure, contact the instructor listed in the class schedule.
Each college or university decides which courses they’ll accept. It’s best to confirm with your home school before enrolling.
Visiting students aren’t eligible for Ozarks Tech financial aid or A+ funding.
If you are currently enrolled in a 4-year school but haven’t earned an associate degree yet, you could be eligible for reverse transfer.
Missouri Reverse Transfer will allow you to send credits from your 4-year institution and complete a minimum of 15 credit hours at Ozarks Tech to earn your associates.
