The Tutoring & Learning Center (TLC) on the Springfield campus hires student tutors and receptionists to support academic success. These positions keep you on campus, build your resume, and give you a chance to strengthen your own skills while you help other students. All opportunities on this page are specific to the TLC in Springfield.
Become a Tutor
As a tutor, you support students one-on-one or in small groups, explain course concepts, and share study strategies. Tutoring is a good fit if you enjoy your classes, communicate clearly, and want a flexible campus job that fits around your schedule.
Who can be a TLC tutor
To be considered as a tutor at the Springfield Tutoring & Learning Center, you need to:
- Request a letter of recommendation from an instructor in your specialty area
- Be in good academic standing
- Have earned a grade of B or higher in each course in your specialty area
The Learning Center tutors are hired in the following areas
Accounting
- Must have earned a B or higher in ACC 220 or ACC 225
Anatomy and Physiology
- Must have earned a B or higher in BCS 132 or BCS 165
Biology
- Must have earned a B or higher in BIO 100 or higher
Chemistry
- Must have earned a B or higher in CHM 101 or CHM 160
Computers
- Must have earned a B or higher in CIS 101 or higher
Languages
- Must have earned a B or higher in courses in the language subject area
Math
- Must have earned a B or higher in MTH 130 or higher
Physics
- Must have earned a B or higher in PHY 120 or higher
Programming
- Must have earned a B or higher in CIS 120
Academic coaches
Must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
Apply to be a tutor
To apply for a tutor position in the Springfield TLC:
- Confirm that you are in good academic standing and that you meet the course grade or GPA requirement for your subject area.
- Ask an instructor in your specialty area to write a recommendation letter for you.
- Ask the instructor to email the letter to [email protected].
- Complete Ozarks Tech’s student employment application form for TLC tutor positions.
- Submit the application as directed in the form so it reaches TLC administration on the Springfield campus.
After you apply, TLC staff will review your materials and contact you if you are selected for an interview.
Become a Receptionist
As a TLC receptionist, you are the first person students see when they arrive at the Springfield Tutoring & Learning Center. You help check students in, answer basic questions, manage appointments, and keep the front desk running smoothly.
How to apply to be a receptionist
To apply for a TLC receptionist position at the Springfield campus:
- Submit the Work-Study Assignment Form
- Complete the Work-Study TLC Receptionist application in the student jobs system.
- Log in to the jobs page with your Ozarks Tech credentials.
- Use the search bar to search for “TLC Receptionist” and submit your application for the position.
